Support and Charity Requests – Mattjoins Dreamstore

Friday, September 16th, 2011

For a while now I have been inundated with requests to provide equipment to charitable angling causes and to make appearances to visit sick adults and children. It is very difficult for me to deal with them since I have limited resources. I am pleased to announce, however that I am going to be linking up with the Dreamstore Foundation. Further details to follow.

Guided Trips 2011/2012

Friday, September 16th, 2011

I have been receiving quite a few enquiries about guided trips in the coming months and also whether I will be doing any joint trips with Mick Brown. The answer is that I will be doing a limited amount of guiding and I will also be working with Mick. Details of the one to one trips can be found on this site. Those whom wish to book both myself and the Duke should write with details of when and for how many days. All enquiries will be dealt with via the ‘contact us’ link on the website.

TV Series Update

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Wild Fisherman has been bought by Discovery television and is likely to be screened both in the UK and across Europe in the next few months. There are two series of Wild Fisherman, four episodes in series one from Mozambique and four episodes in series 2 from Norway.

The shows are one hour long and are filmed in full HD. Without doubt, they are different to any of the shows I have made in the past and of far superior quality. The fishing styles are sport fishing techniques using spinning and fly fishing kit both on the ocean and fresh water. The idea behind Wild Fisherman is ‘uncaught fish from inspiring landscapes’ and the series we shot certainly fits the bill.

Those whom prefer hard-core coarse fishing shows will be pleased to hear that Discovery have commissioned me to make a new six-part series titled 24 hour Rod Race.

Updates are available from Discovery television but when I hear news of broadcast dates I will post them.

Update TV Series

Monday, July 4th, 2011

Following my blog post (some time ago!) about the possibility of a new tv series, the state of play is that Wild Fisherman is with a distributor and it is being offered to various tv channels. The distributors have a great track record of selling programmes and have assured us that Wild Fisherman will hit our tv screens during the next few months.
I have also filmed a pilot episode for a 24 hour rod race that is with Discovery television. The reaction has been very favourable but Discovery have to decide whether they are going to release a budget to fund a new angling series.
With any luck, I should have something on tv within the next 6 months!

Matt Hayes Guided Fishing Trips 2011

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

Bookings are now being taken for trips with Matt in 2011. There are several options including trips for carp, barbel and fly fishing. If you are interested or would like to book a trip for a partner, please use the ‘contact us’ link on this website, stating the trip you are interested in. On confirmation of the booking, clients will be issued with a booking certificate.

Carp Trip

This is a 3 day trip at a really exclusive venue. The lake is a 26 acre exclusive water known as the Sitch. For most of the year it is fished by a syndicate but it is closed to everyone in April and May. The water contains over 500 carp, the biggest to over thirty pounds but the bulk of the fish are doubles into low twenties. There is a great chance of getting some serious action on this water! The Sitch is a beautiful lake in secluded surroundings and it will be held exclusively for Matt and his guests. There will be no fishing on the Sitch for several weeks prior to the trip.

Matt has places for six guests and the session will last from Monday 25th April at 9.00 am until Wednesday 27th April at 6.00 pm.

Anglers need to bring fishing equipment (two rods per angler), bivvies, camping equipment, food and bait. There are some takeaway restaurants nearby.

Places cost 800.00 per person.

Barbel Fishing on the River Severn

Matt will do a series of one-day barbel fishing trips on a one-to-one basis in late February 2011. The dates available are 23, 24, 25 February. The venue will be the river Severn. After meeting for an early morning cup of tea, Matt will take guests to the river and fishing will be for the rest of the day. Clients should bring their own equipment and bait.

Places cost 500.00 per person.

Fly Fishing, Watermark/Cotswolds

One-to-one days out in late March through to early May. The venue will either be the Watermark stillwater fishery in the cotswolds (rainbow and brown trout) or a small chalk stream containing wild brown trout and grayling (client’s choice). Equipment can be provided or clients may use their own.

Places Cost 700.00 per person

Pike Fly Fishing

One-to-one trips on a trout reservoir fly fishing for pike. The trips will take place in April or early May.

Equipment and flies will be provided.

Places Cost: 650.00 per person

Furnace Mill Fishery/Matt Hayes Academy

These are one day courses for up to 12 people, dealing with the basics of stillwater angling with a float. The courses will be run by Matt Hayes and Ed Brown. The next course is booked for February and at the time of writing there are places available. An ideal trip for anyone looking for trips that are at a lower price. If you are interested, go to www.furnacemill.net for more information or e-mail jane@furnacemill.net

The cost looks likely to be between 150 and 200 pounds.
