Salmon Fishing in Norway
Winsnes Fly Fishing Lodge
Winsnes is a traditional Norwegian Farmhouse and fishing Lodge located on the banks of the river Gaula, Norway’s most prolific big salmon river. I first visited the farm in July of 2004, a trip we recorded for Lake Escapes on Discovery.
Since then, I have been back to the Winsnes Farm on numeorus occasions - and in May of 2007 I finally secured the biggest catch of all when I married Anne Marit Winsnes at Singsaas church.Â

Winsnes Farm and Fishing Lodge
At Winsnes we offer accomodation, food and fantastic salmon fishing on ten exclusive pools. The pools, run in conjunction with GFF, are among the best on the whole Gaula and every year the returns of big salmon from our stretch are always up there in the top 3 for the whole river.

Fishing is between the 1st of June and the end of August, with late June through to mid-July being the peak season. This is the period when, because of the midnight sun, you can fish 24 hours a day!

Anglers fish the ten pools in pairs, visiting each pool for six hours at a time – four pools a day until all the pools have been covered and then the rotation starts again.
Fishing on the rotation (limited to 16 maximum) involves 7 nights stay at Winsnes, fishing, licence and breakfast/dinner. Package prices vary from around fourteen hundred to two and a half thousand pounds per person depending on season. For full details go to www.anglingdirectholidays.com
At Winsnes we also offer guests the option to pursue other types of fishing. Our adventure salmon fishing package on the Fora river is not for the feignt-hearted but it offers the adventurous game fisherman a truly unique experince – to catch salmon in truly wild surroundings! Forget about ghillies, afternoon tea, enforced lunch breaks and cucumber sandwiches, Climbing down into a steep valley, this is pocket water fishing among the rocks and boulders for big salmon. Steamy and humid, the lost world of the Fora valley is reminiscent of Jurrasic park!

We also offer wild trout fishing trips in the mountains that surround Winsnes, trout fishing and horseback riding combined (great for families) as well as grayling trips to the Glomma and Rena rivers. Trips can be for one or as many days as you like and families of fishermen are welcome at Winsnes.

Float tube fishing on a local mountain lake in the midnight sun – a breathtaking experience in the wilderness!
As director of fishing for Winsnes, I will be on hand for most of the summer and visitors to the farm will be able to chat with me about salmon fishing on Gaula. I am also experienced on Fora for the Adventure Salmon Fishing and for both grayling and trout fishing on local lakes or on the river Rena or Glomma. For those who want to book me as a guide, the prices are much lower than the prices for UK trips.
